Northwest Elementary is proud to announce that we have been recognized as a 2026 ECTAC Exceeding Expectations Award School, one of only 35 elementary schools in Florida to earn this distinction.

District Planning for Progress

Pinellas County Schools hosted a series of community meetings across the district to share school-specific data and gather feedback on population and enrollment trends, facility planning and school utilization.

Music

General Music Class

All students of Northwest Elementary in Grades K-5 receive 45 minutes of music instruction once weekly. In general music, students become well-rounded beginning musicians. All instruction is based on the Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Music as well as Pinellas County School’s K-5 Key Learning Goals.

Upon entering music class you may find students engaged in singing, dancing, movement, listening, reading, journaling, playing instruments, using music technology, and much more!

The goal of general music is to prepare students to go on to middle school and be ready to take their musicianship to the next level in any music course they choose. To aid in this goal, students in upper grades are given the opportunity to join extracurricular music ensembles here at Northwest.
